Compliance Diligence Manager (UK)

Contract: Until July 2026 (potential for extension depending on performance, team structure and budget)

Location: London (Hybrid - 3 days onsite)

A leading financial services client is seeking a Compliance Diligence Manager to lead and enhance their financial crime compliance efforts, particularly in client and partner due diligence. This is a key leadership role within the compliance function, reporting to the Deputy MLRO.

What You’ll Be Doing
• Lead and manage the diligence team, overseeing onboarding and risk management processes for clients and partners. • Conduct and review KYC/CDD checks, including refreshes and audits. • Ensure counterparties meet legal and risk standards and are not involved in financial crime. • Perform country-specific risk assessments and provide subject matter expertise across the compliance function. • Develop and maintain scalable diligence processes and ensure effective monitoring. • Facilitate review and approval of new clients and partners, supporting ongoing due diligence. • Produce management information aligned with regulatory and internal risk expectations. • Ensure compliance with external regulations and internal policies. • Resolve compliance queries and engage with internal teams, law enforcement, and regulators. • Apply relevant legislation, including the Money Laundering Regulations 2017 and Payment Services Regulations. Support to Deputy MLRO
• Maintain and improve the compliance-risk control framework. • Ensure compliance with local legislation and board-defined criteria. • Support financial crime training across the business. • Align AML/CTF and sanctions processes with global standards. Leadership Responsibilities
• Guide direct reports in identifying and escalating financial crime risks. • Allocate work and set performance objectives. • Promote compliance culture and values across the business. • Provide coaching, feedback, and support to team members. What This Client Is Looking For

Education
• Degree-level education and/or professional qualifications (e.g. ICA Certificates/Diplomas).

Experience
• 5+ years in payments, FX, compliance, regulation, or enforcement. • At least 3 years in financial services. • Proven experience managing due diligence risk. • Strong understanding of risk assessment and mitigation. • Experience leading and developing teams. • Familiarity with operational processes and IT systems in payments is a plus.
